Day 1: Da Nang Arrival – Hue City (L)

Upon arrival at Da Nang International Airport, you’ll be greeted by your guide and driver who will take you on a scenic drive to Hue City, the former imperial capital of Vietnam. Along the way, you’ll pass by the stunning Hai Van Pass, one of the most picturesque coastal routes in Vietnam.

Upon arrival in Hue, you’ll check into your hotel and have the rest of the day to relax and explore the city on your own. Take a stroll along the Perfume River or explore the charming streets and markets of Hue.

Day 2: Hue City Tour (B,L)

Today, you’ll embark on a full-day tour of Hue City, starting with a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Hue Imperial City, which was the seat of power for the Nguyen Dynasty from 1802 to 1945. Within the massive fortress walls, you’ll discover the Forbidden Purple City, which was the private residence of the emperor and his family.

You’ll also visit the Thien Mu Pagoda, an iconic seven-story pagoda that dates back to the 17th century and is considered the symbol of Hue. This beautiful pagoda houses a number of priceless artifacts and is known as the site where the famous Buddhist monk Thich Quang Duc famously self-immolated in 1963 to protest against the South Vietnamese government’s treatment of Buddhists.

After lunch, you’ll head to the outskirts of Hue to explore the tombs of emperors Tu Duc and Khai Dinh, which are famous for their intricate architecture and beautiful landscapes. This comprehensive tour will give you a deep understanding of Hue’s rich history and cultural significance.

Day 3: Hue – DMZ – Phong Nha

After breakfast, we will depart Hue and head to the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) to explore the historical landmarks that still bear the scars of the Vietnam War. As we travel along the highway, you will be able to witness the beautiful countryside scenery of Central Vietnam.

We will stop at the Vinh Moc Tunnels, an underground village built by the North Vietnamese Army to shelter villagers from American bombing during the war. Here, you can experience crawling into the tunnels and see how the villagers lived underground for years.

Next, we will visit the Hien Luong Bridge, which marked the border between North and South Vietnam during the war. You will have the opportunity to take in the beautiful views of the Ben Hai River and learn about the heartbreaking stories of Vietnamese families who were separated by the war.

After lunch, we will continue our journey to Phong Nha National Park and check-in at our hotel for the night. The park is famous for its incredible cave systems and is a must-see destination for any traveler to Central Vietnam. You can spend the evening at leisure, relaxing and enjoying the beautiful scenery of Phong Nha.

Depending on the date booking, we may stay in either Dong Hoi City or Phong Nha City, depending on the most convenient option. This will provide us with the opportunity to rest and prepare for the exciting adventure in the following days.

Day 4: Phong Nha Cave Tour (B,L)

Get ready to explore some of the most spectacular caves in Vietnam! After breakfast, we’ll head to the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to over 300 caves and grottoes.

Our first stop will be the Phong Nha Cave, which is considered one of the most beautiful caves in the world. We’ll board a traditional boat to cruise along the Son River and admire the stunning karst formations on the way to the cave entrance. Once inside, we’ll marvel at the spectacular stalactites and stalagmites that have formed over millions of years, and learn about the cave’s fascinating history.

After lunch, we’ll continue our cave adventure with a visit to the Thien Duong Cave, also known as Paradise Cave. This recently discovered cave is even larger and more breathtaking than Phong Nha, with chambers up to 100 meters high and a length of over 31 kilometers.

We’ll take a guided tour of the cave and see the impressive formations, including the “Crystal Palace” and the “Great Wall of Vietnam.” After a full day of exploring, we’ll return to our hotel for a well-deserved rest.

Day 5: Phong Nha – Hoi An (B,L)

After breakfast, depart from Phong Nha to the picturesque town of Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its well-preserved Ancient Town.

Along the way, enjoy stunning views of the countryside, with rice paddies and small villages dotting the landscape.

Upon arrival in Hoi An, check into your hotel and enjoy some free time to relax and explore the town at your own pace. With its mix of Chinese, Japanese, and European architecture, Hoi An is a fascinating place to wander, with plenty of charming shops, cafes, and restaurants to discover.

Day 6: Hoi An Walking Tour (B,L)

Get ready to immerse yourself in the unique charm of Hoi An on a walking tour of the ancient town.

Start at the Japanese Covered Bridge, the iconic symbol of Hoi An, before continuing to the Chinese Assembly Halls of the Fujian and Cantonese communities. Admire the intricate carvings and colorful mosaics that adorn the halls, learning about their history and significance from your knowledgeable guide.

Next, visit the Hoi An Museum, which showcases the town’s rich cultural heritage through exhibits of traditional handicrafts, ceramics, and photographs.

Day 7: My Son Holy Land (B)

In the morning, we will take a short drive to the My Son Holy Land, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This sacred site is a cluster of abandoned and partially ruined Hindu temples that were once the religious and political center of the Champa Kingdom. The temples date back to the 4th – 13th century and were built by the Cham people.

Explore the area with your guide, learning about the history and culture of this fascinating site. Admire the intricate carvings and unique architecture, and take in the stunning views of the surrounding jungle.

After the tour, return to the hotel and spend the afternoon at leisure. You can choose to relax at the hotel or soak up the sun on the beach.

Day 8: Golden Bridge in Ba Na – Marble Mountain – Hoi An (B,L)

Begin the day with a visit to Ba Na Hills, a picturesque hill station that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The highlight of the visit is the iconic Golden Bridge, which stands at a height of 1,400 meters above sea level and is supported by two giant hands emerging from the hillside.

After marveling at the Golden Bridge, take a cable car ride to the top of the hill and enjoy a panoramic view of Da Nang City from the summit.
